VISION STATEMENT:

To develop an atmosphere where people with common Christian lifestyles, being single, divorced or widowed, with or without children, can fellowship together in unity around the purposes of Christ (to seek and save those who are lost, to destroy the works of the devil, to live the abundant life, and to make known the manifold wisdom of Christ to the world).

Mission Statement:

To orchestrate a ministry for Singles to gather in worship, discipleship, fellowship, and outreach.

To aid in the personal development of the Single person by providing an environment where everyone is loved, accepted by God, and made secure in Him.

To facilitate the destiny development of the Single person, letting them know that God has a plan to prosper them, and not harm them, giving each one a hope and a future.

To assist in the ministry of the Single person in the areas of any Life transitions (expectation of getting married, marriage, divorce, widowhood, and raising children), helping them grow in the seven principles of the Singles Ministry (strength, grace, stewardship, wisdom, availability, teachable/meekness, and diligence), to fulfill the destiny call on their lives.

To allow an environment at our UNIFIED Single functions that support the Single in mentoring, encouragement, healing and growth, as we build our relationship first to God and then to one another.

To provide a total ministry to Singles that is contemporary, cutting edge and where the presence of God is consistently manifested and demonstrated.

To be an example and leader in the Detroit and Metropolitan area to UNIFY Christian Singles Ministries under the Banner of Jesus Christ, regardless of church expression, race, age or ethnic backgrounds.

KEY OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES:

Key Ministries

• First Friday night of every Month at 6:30 PM, we at Detroit World Outreach present Friday Night Live (FNL), an opportunity where Singles from DWO and churches from various locations of Detroit and the Metropolitan area can fellowship together in unity. Our common purpose for this night is to lift up the name of Jesus through praise and worship and the teaching of God's Word that has relational value to the Single; We offer a few fellowship game nights or movie nights just to get to know others in the body of Christ.


• Second Friday in every quarter, we have created a Diner’s Club where we are taking our testimony to Detroit and the Metropolitan area. All who want to be a part of this evening must rsvp to unified@dwo.org the Friday before the scheduled date. We will be going to restaurants like Ruth Chris, Ritz Carlton, Benihana, etc., where reservations are required. Join us for a great night of food and fellowship. Dates and times of these events are posted on the UNIFIED Activity Calendar.


• Third Sunday of every month, we have a luncheon, an opportunity for Singles to fellowship, get to know each other, and meet new friends. We alternate mainly between two locations after the Sunday 11:00AM Service. One month we venture to Kabob Inn, which is right across the street from DWO. Other months, lunch is brought in to DWO, and a Team of Volunteer Singles serves the others. After a time of fellowship, everyone helps with clean up to leave the room better than we found it.


• Fourth Saturday of every month, we are engaged in special indoor and outdoor activities or trips that aid in the personal development of the Single. Some examples of our activities include touring the Detroit Institute of Arts, enjoying a night at Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Snow Skiing at Brighton or Fishing on a warm, sunny day. Also on the schedule are some exciting trips to Cedar Point, Chicago and the Bible Walk in Ohio. We have something for everyone. Come on out and have some fun.

Also on the Fourth Saturday of every month is the Ministry called Angel Food. It is a food ministry that reaches out to the community. It starts at 9 AM in The Vault on the grounds of DWO and we help sort and package hundreds of boxes of food and make a difference in the lives of many.

Along with this monthly cadence, there are opportunities for the Singles to keep Detroit World Outreach’s food pantry organized with boxes that are stocked with 5 to 6 meals, available to members and those that might walk through the doors of the church.

WHAT ARE SOME SIGNIFICANT ROLES OF THE UNIFIED SINGLES?

We are a ministry that emphasizes that every Single is important and valued by God, that each one has a place and function within the Body whatever life transition they are going through. We fellowship in not only a multi-cultural setting, but also a multi-generational setting. We serve throughout DWO knowing that we are blessed to be a blessing.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE KEY TOPICS TAUGHT IN UNIFIED SINGLES?

We believe and teach that God has a plan for every Single, and only to do them good, to prosper them and not harm them, giving each one a hope and a future.

We believe that Singleness is a time for every Single to deepen their walk with God as well as develop and grow in the seven principle areas, (Strength, Grace, Stewardship, Wisdom, Availability, Teachable/Meekness, and Diligence) to fulfill the Destiny Call on their lives.

We also believe the choice of being single or choosing to be married is one that is birthed in prayer and fasting on the Destiny Path God has designed for them.

Four Pillars of the Singles Ministry

1. Diligence
Proverbs 21:5
The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.

2. Faithfulness
I Corinthians 4:2
Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

3. Servanthood
Mark 10:43-45
Whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

4. Unity
Psalm 133:1
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Six Principles of the Singles Ministry

1. Strength
Proverbs 10:29
The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

2. Grace
Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

3. Prosperity
3 John 2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

4. Wisdom
Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you brothers in view of God’s mercy to offer your bodies as living sacrifices wholly and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of this worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, His good, pleasing and perfect will.
